62nd Primetime Emmy Awards – HBO, AMC Lead Winners, ABC and CBS Top Broadcast Networks

Modern Family gets top comedy, Mad Men do again as top drama; Edie Falco, Jim Parsons, Kyra Sedgwick, Bryan Cranston, gain lead acting honors; Temple Grandin grabs five. First-time host Jimmy Fallon brings music and high energy to the events.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night conquered by a mix of new comedies and veteran dramas, at the same time HBO monopolized the statuettes for movies and miniseries.

ABC’s Modern Family led all succession programs with three Emmy wins, together with outstanding comedy. In addition to, it won for supporting actor Eric Stonestreet and writers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd for their pilot episode script.

Concerns of growing deforestation is the next edition-designer Nikhil, Shantanu

Fashion designers Shantanu and Nikhil decided to launch their second edition of Van Huesen India Men’s Fashion Week. The theme of this edition is to create awareness against the growing deforestation with their collection title as “Death of a Tree”.

The collection was dominated by one strong grey with hints of reds, goldens, violets, blues, greens and pinks thrown in. As this was also the duos winter and fall collection for 2010-11 the men on ramp wore leggings, pants, long jackets, coats, scarves in fabrics like wool, cable knits, silk, handloom tussars, crape but with a futuristic touch.

"This collection is more to show our concern about deforestation which is very close to our heart. We tried to show our interpretation of slow death of a tree from its prime to perish. It is our determination to voice our concern through our creativity," Shantanu said.

Johar has decided to design clothes only for men

Karan Johar, the director come fashion designer has decided to design fashion clothes only for men as of now. The Karan Johar-Varun Bahl label is debuting in Delhi with their prêt line during the Van Heusen India Men’s Week on August 28.

“When we are designing a collection, we will go back and forth, corresponding what the new trends are and what trends we want to set through our collection. We had our first meeting in my wardrobe. We were looking at my clothes, and he (Bahl) came up with some great ideas,” says Johar.

About the collection that doesn’t have a name yet, Johar says, “For the Couture Week in Mumbai last year, we gave a twist to the classics.” The collection draws its inspiration from New York. “There’s a typical way that an affluent New Yorker dresses and this collection covers all that,” he adds.

Bahl, who had been designing for Johar for over three years, says the two think alike and that is how their friendship developed into a business association. The collection, Bahl says, “Is a spring-summer collection with shorts, trousers, denims and jackets.” Their collection though young and peppy targets all age groups.

When asked if Delhi could expect many stars walking the ramp, Johar says, “There is no Bollywood at the show. Varun and I are the showstoppers. Our clothes are our superstars,” laughs Johar. He is expecting a great response from Delhi which has given a lot of fashion designers in the past and he hopes that he also play a good role in fashion field.

Melbourne is very popular with coffee, shopping and theatre but the international survey has been taken place in order to take the list of top fashion cities. In that list Sydney has considered as the nation’s fashion capital and Melbourne was in 11th place. According to that survey New York won the top going fashion city and the other cities like Hong Kong, London, Paris, and Los Angeles caught the top five places.

Virginia Judge, the Arts minister stated that there was no doubt that Sydney was overtaking Melbourne in the fashion stakes. Also Judge added that Sydney is considered to be the home for most of the Australia’s best fashion designers which includes Collette Dinnigan, Jayson Brunson, etc.,

Denmark hosted world longest catwalk

In Copenhagen Fashion Week, about 250 fashion models had done longest catwalk with their beautiful accessories of about a mile on Saturday. Xinhua reported that this was the biggest event which as ever happened. When the show starts the models did their beautiful catwalk on a giant pink carpet by presenting Scandinavia's top fashion label collections.

Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish minister of economic states that this biggest event has brought great unique opportunities to Denmark fashion businesses. In front of huge crowd the models presented greatest looks in make up and hair styles which was done by Max Factor. During the Europe’s largest fashion event three more fashion fairs were also held and those fairs 2,300 international brands had show cased by 1,100 exhibitors.
